Just this week I was walking down Hall 400 at Azle Manor and thinking of Iona. In fact, I can't go down that hallway without her sweet face coming to mind. She was a "Star" at our Bible Study and rarely missed an opportunity to be there. She knew her Bible and loved discussions out of it.
When my husband had back surgery, we didn't have the class but I still went to the Home to see ones I knew would miss it. Of course, I spent a lot of time in Iona's room. She would always have her big well-worn Bible there on the meal table, which was appropriate, since it is our real "food", as Jesus said in Matthew 4:4. We would sit on turn from scripture to scripture feeding on the words of life coming off the page.
I miss her and I know all her family and many dear friends do as well. I take comfort in the words of Jesus when he was talking to his followers at John 5:28 and said, "Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in which all that arein the graves shall hear his voice, and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life, and those who practiced vile things to a resurrection of judgment." I long for that day, as did Iona. We spoke of it often.
You're especially in our thoughts this month,
