Services for Mary Olean Dickerson, age 90, are scheduled for 1 p.m., Saturday, October 17, 2015, at Main Street Baptist Church with Bro. David Crain officiating. She was born September 21, 1925 to Albert and Ruthie Hawkins.

Interment will be in Woodside Cemetery under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home.

Olean passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2015, in Hattiesburg, Ms., where she had lived since April 2014. She was born and raised in Grand Saline, Texas, and still considered it to be her “home”. Family and friends were Olean’s love and joy. She was a longtime member of Main Street Baptist Church, Gleaners SS Class, and Fun After Fifty-Five.

On December 11, 1942, Olean married Edward Eugene Dickerson, the “love of her life". They were married for 64 years. She is preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Ruthie Hawkins; her husband, Edward Eugene Dickerson; son, David Eugene Dickerson; brothers, Ira (Bill) Hawkins and Mois Hawkins; sister, Lois Chaney.

Survivors include her daughter, Dixie and husband, Dennis Baum of Hattiesburg, MS; sister, Gernadean Bell of Tyler; four grandchildren, DeWayne and Theresa Dickerson, Tony and Melaney Dickerson, David and Sarah Baum, Michael Baum ; seven great-grandchildren Lyndsey Dickerson, Cassidy Dickerson, Dawson Baum, Preston Baum, Ty Wheeler, Kris Chelette, Kelsey Chelette; three great-great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, DeWayne Dickerson, Tony Dickerson, David Baum, Michael Baum, Ty Wheeler and Kris Chelette.

The family will receive friends 6:30 p.m. – 8 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.

A very special thank you to the staff at Alden Pointe Assisted Living and Forrest General Hospice Care, for the generous kindness, love and care that was given to Mom during her stay in Hattiesburg.
