Beverly Adkins Ryan (69) of Grand Saline and Garland, TX, passed away on December 14, 2024, in Dallas after a hard-fought battle with leukemia. She was born in Longview, TX in 1955, to Billy R. Adkins and Ruth Sayers Adkins.
Beverly graduated from Garland High School and married her high school sweetheart, Thomas John Ryan. Tom and Beverly were married for over 51 years. They enjoyed spending time with family, friends and friends who became family. Beverly truly enjoyed opening her home for holiday fishing tournaments, serving warm breakfasts for early hunting trips, hosting battle buddies without family during the holidays, or anyone in need of a welcoming place.
She is survived by her three children: Kristi Cates (Christopher) of Mt. Pleasant, TX; Karen Teoli (Jonathan) of West Greenwich, RI; and CW3 John Ryan (Christina) of Peyton, CO.
Some of Beverly’s most cherished moments were with her beloved “grands”: Christopher Jr. (Kylie), Jacob (Anna), Joseph, Lynda, Lynnae, Garrett, Kyle, Nathanial, Nicholas, Dominic, Brody, Nadia, Bryson, Liberty and Vivian.
She is also survived by her sister Jane Via (Jim) of Edmond, OK, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and others.
Beverly’s lifelong passion for music was shown through her piano studio that began in 1980. She was president of the Garland Music Teachers Association, VP of Student Affairs in the TMTA, a member of the ETMTA, VZ County Music Teachers and Student Affiliate, to name a few. Beverly was determined to provide every student with the opportunity to learn piano, music theory and to gain an appreciation for that which she loved. She accompanied countless middle school and high school band and choir members. She was also the pianist at Audubon Park Baptist Church and the interim pianist at other local churches for many years. Beverly poured her heart and talent into everything she did. She was a proud member of the Altrusa Club and other volunteer groups that encouraged education, reading and service.
In Lieu of flowers, please make donations to Altrusa Club or Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
Since Beverly’s favorite color was blue, feel free to wear blue in celebration of her life.
