Obituary for Candy Jo Byrum (Clower)

Services for Candy Jo Clower Byrum, 60, of Grand Saline, are scheduled for 11 a.m., Monday, February 6, 2023, at Bartley Funeral Home, with Josh Harrell officiating.

Interment will be in Green Family Cemetery, Whitehouse.

Mrs. Byrum passed away January 30, 2023, in Grand Saline. She was born April 7, 1962, in Grand Saline, to Harold Glenn and Ruby Jewel Bateman Clower. Candy Jo grew up in Grand Saline, and lived 22 years in Andrews, before moving back to Grand Saline, 14 years ago. She was a talented musician and singer. She played the guitar and sang at weddings and funerals while living in Andrews. She worked in the cafeteria for many years at Devonian Elementary School and was known as “the singing cafeteria lady.” Candy Jo loved cats and was a member of the Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles Young Byrum; daughter, Emily Renee’ Byrum; and brother, Chuck Clower.

Survivors include her partner, Barry Harbison of Grand Saline; son, Derrick Young Byrum of Tyler; two sisters, Joanie Mayne and husband Jody of Grand Saline and Jonna Fern Dail and husband James of Ft. Worth; granddaughter, Avery Jewel Byrum of Grand Saline; brother-in-law, Jon Byrum and wife Lori of Zionsville, Indiana; two sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Clower of Grand Saline and Terah Rutledge and husband Roy of Tyler; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Derrick Byrum, Jared Mayne, Wesley Mayne, Jacoby St. Pierre, David Byrum, John Byrum, and Jody Mayne.

The family will receive friends, 10 a.m., Monday at the funeral home.
