Obituary for Jimmy Ray Fisher

A Celebration of Life for Jimmy Ray Fisher, 88, of Grand Saline, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 24, 2023, at the First Baptist Church of Fruitvale with Bro. Jud Frazier officiating. Assisting will be Randy Fisher, Billy Barrentine, and Cody Fisher.

Interment will follow at Haven of Memories Cemetery in Canton.

Jimmy passed away Friday, January 20, 2023, in Tyler. He was born February 28, 1934, in Grand Saline to the late Jim Foster and Mary (Washmon) Fisher. Jimmy was a lifetime resident of the Grand Saline and Fruitvale area and a member of the First Baptist Church of Fruitvale. Jimmy enjoyed working throughout his life as a farmer and cattle rancher.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Douglas Glenn Fisher; 3 sisters, Arlene Fisher Koonce, Glenda Fisher Thompson, Sherry Fisher; sister-in-law, Shirley Fisher; and four brothers-in-law, Hubert Koonce, Mike Thompson, George Worthington, and Herschel Ewalt.

Jimmy is survived by his wife of 70 years, Barbara Fisher of Grand Saline; son, David Fisher and wife Boonpeng of Fruitvale; 2 daughters, Mitzi Fisher and friend Douglas Parker of Grand Saline and Mary Margaret McNorton and husband Bennie of Allen; 2 brothers, Keith Fisher of Grand Saline and Ralph Fisher and wife Mona of Grand Saline; 2 sisters, Audrey Ewalt of Grand Saline and Linda Kay Hollowell and husband Bennie of Grand Saline; daughter-in-law, Kay Armstrong and husband Rusty of Point; 7 grandchildren, Cody Fisher, Jay Adair, Rebecca Sellars, Zachary Fisher, Katheryne Fisher, Ethan Fisher, and Audrey Fisher; 2 great grandchildren; and numerous other loving family members and friends.

Serving as pallbearers will be David Hazel, Don Taylor, Sheb Smith, Bill Hunt, Carl Waddill and Monty Lewis.

Raymond Jones will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

Family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, January 23, 2023, at Bartley Funeral Home in Grand Saline.
