Obituary for Windle Dwayne Gaston

A celebration of life for Windle Dwayne Gaston, 52, of Alba, is scheduled for 2 p.m., Thursday, January 19, 2023, at Mineola Church of Christ, with Jeremy Harrell officiating, under the direction of family and friends. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m., on Thursday.

Mr. Gaston was called home, January 14, 2023, at his residence in Alba, surrounded by loved ones, after a long battle with cancer. He was born October 25, 1970, in Quitman, to Wilson Dwayne and Rhonda Langley Gaston. He grew up in Alba, with his dad, Dwayne and his second mom, Bonnie. This is where his love for dirt track racing began. He graduated from Miller Grove High School, class of 1989. Windle was employed by Morton Salt in Grand Saline, from 1992-2020. He was blessed with many lasting friendships while working there. In 2021, he began working at Day Motor Sport in Tyler, where he was welcomed like family. Along with his love for racing, he also enjoyed bass fishing, cooking, and spending time with friends and family. Windle was a member of Mineola Church of Christ, he was strong in his faith, humble, and very selfless. He was preceded in death by his dad, Wilson Dwayne Gaston; granddads, E.O. Gaston, Sr., and Willis Langley; and step granddad, Kenny Gowin.

Survivors include his wife of 6 years, Julie Gaston of Alba; mothers, Rhonda Clarke and husband Wesley of Sulphur Springs and Bonnie Sloan and husband J.D. of Grand Saline; son, Corey Gaston of Grand Saline; step children, Dalton Lee and wife Alex of Tyler, Savannah Lee of Mineola, Lexy Cannady and husband Noah of Lone Oak, and Dylan Lee of Fort Myer, VA; grandchildren, Presleigh, Hopelynn, and Benjamin; brother, Kinne Gaston and wife Amanda of Grand Saline; step brothers, Jared Sloan and wife Mary and Jason Sloan and wife Amber all of Grand Saline; grandmothers, Mildred Gaston and Doris Gowin both of Emory; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunt, uncles, cousins, and friends. The family would like to give a special thanks to hospice nurse and friend, Connie Mills, for all her care and compassion during this time.
