Obituary for James Lee Townsend

Services for James Lee Townsend, 86, of Allen, are scheduled for 2 p.m., Friday, November 11, 2022, at Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home, Alba, with Bro. Mike Biggers and Jerry King officiating.

Interment will be in Salem Cemetery, Alba.

Mr. Townsend passed away November 7, 2022, in Allen. He was born May 30, 1936, in Hope, Arkansas, to Granvel Paige and Rosie Lee Ponder Townsend. On August 5,1965, he married Charlotte Sue Pope in Dallas. They moved from Dallas to Allen in 1977, and he lived there the rest of his life. James served in the US Army and worked as a test technician for Rockwell International. He was a member of the Church of Christ and served many years as an Elder in both Allen and Wylie. He also was a faithful member of the Twin Creeks Church of Christ in Allen. James was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Arthur Dale Townsend and Royce Townsend; and sister Vena Mae Biggers.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Charlotte Townsend of Allen; two daughters, Leah Conner and husband Randy of Pikeville, North Carolina and Amy Colleton and husband Warren of Seneca, Missouri; two brothers, Terrell Townsend and Dennis Townsend both of Hope, Arkansas; two sisters, Barbara Marsh of Houston and Mary Nell Mathis of Maude; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Warren Colleton, Riley Colleton, Jesse Shelton, Jonathan Admire, Brad Wells,
Dalton Landreth, Kendall Martin, and Lou Castillo.

The family will receive friends, 1 p.m., at the funeral home.
