Obituary for Lurilla "Granny" Stanley (Morgan)

Services for Lurilla “Granny” Morgan Stanley, 91, of Grand Saline, are scheduled for 2 p.m., Friday, October 7, 2022, at Roundflat Pentecostal Church with Bro. Homer Morgan officiating, under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home.

Interment will be in Creagleville Cemetery.

Lou Stanley passed away October 4, 2022, in Grand Saline. She was born June 23, 1931, in Fruitvale, to Homer Basil & Mable Beatrice Christopher Morgan. Lou lived all her life in Fruitvale and Grand Saline where she was a charter member of Roundflat Pentecostal Church and had led the singing at church for over 50 years. She worked alongside her husband, Alfred, farming and made many trips to the Dallas Farmer’s Market with him to sell their produce. She was also a seamstress and was well known for her excellent cooking skills and dishes.

Mrs. Stanley was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alfred Lewis Stanley; four children, Leta Von Calder, Sharon Lynn Murphy, Ricky Dean Stanley, and Vicky Gene Stanley; three brothers, Jessie Morgan, Ovilee Morgan, and Roy Morgan; five sisters, Violet “Koot” Woodrum, Hazel Wheeler, Pauline Smith, Homma Lou Lovett, and Jean Daughtery; three grandchildren, Tina Watson, Jeff Watson, and Kandy Watson; and one great-granddaughter, Jillian Avery LaPrade.

Survivors include her son, Eddie Alfred Stanley and wife Sharon of Grand Saline; two daughters, LouAnn Stanley of Grand Saline and Toni Stanley of Grand Saline; eleven grandchildren, Tammy Cummings and husband Tommy of Azle, James Coats of Grand Saline, Eddie Paul Stanley and wife Ginny of Grand Saline, Lori Stanley of Grand Saline, Gary Stanley and wife Brandy of Grand Saline, Karla Hance and husband Brad of Edgewood, Heath Snow of Grand Saline, Christy Wood and husband Rusty of Grand Saline, Randy Fisher and wife Jada of Grand Saline, J.P. Fisher and wife Jennifer of Grand Saline, and Matt Fisher and wife Bailey of Grand Saline; twenty-four grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Eddie Paul Stanley, Heath Snow, Randy Fisher, Gary Stanley, J.P. Fisher, James Coats, and Matt Fisher.

Honorary pallbearers will be Gale Lovett, Walter Williams, Rod Hoffpauir, Randall Cope, Billy Clark, Bobby Mills, Homer Morgan, Stephen Autry, Michael Autry, Mark Autry, Eddy Smith, Phillip Smith, Timmy Smith, Ronny Daughtery, Jeff Daughtery, and Marty Daughtery.

The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to services on Friday at the church.
