Obituary for Lena Darlene "Dooley" Hays (Hass)

Services for Lena Darlene Hass Hays, 76, of Mineola, are scheduled for 10 a.m., Friday, October 7, 2022, at Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home, with Bro. Byron George officiating.

Interment will be in Pilgrim Rest #1 Cemetery, Emory.

Mrs. Hays passed away October 3, 2022, in Quitman. She was born September 26, 1946, in Emory, to Isaac Bowie and Nellie Evelyn Adair Hass. Lena lived all her life in the Alba and Emory area. On January 20, 1961, she married Lonnie Joe “Bud” Hays in Rains County. She enjoyed fishing, reading, watching westerns, and spending time with her family. She also loved looking for diamonds on her trips to Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 58 years, Lonnie “Bud” Hays; eight brothers, W.C. Hass, Isaac William Hass, C.H. Hass, Odell Hass, Bowie Hass, Howard Hass, Dee Hass, and Bob Hass; and sister, Nellie Hass McKenzie “Tencie”.

Survivors include her son, Michael Hays and wife Janice of Emory; five daughters, Lesa Swoape and husband Sport of Alba, Tonya Davidson and husband Ronny of Valley Spring; Lana Baldwin of Grand Saline, Lawanna Gardner and husband James of Sulphur, LA, and Caci Arrington and husband Tony of Odessa; four brothers, Douglas Hass and wife Pam of Alba, Joe Dale Hass and wife Phyllis of Alba, Randy Hass and wife Cathy of Alba, and Danny Pat Hass and wife Bobbie Jean of Kaufman; sister Velma Diane Wright of Alba; fifteen grandchildren, Greg, Amanda, Kandice, Emily, Braxton, Dave, Kara, Rayna, Dakota, Dusty, Dylin, Alex, Colwin, Hannah, and Tristan; fifteen great-grandchildren; special friend, Billy Brimer; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Ray Duarte, Wesley McKenzie, Dalton Wright, Brian Wright, Shane Hass, Richard Hass, Tony Arrington, Colwin Wren and Brandon Hass.

The family would like to give a special thanks to her caregivers Velma Wright, Cathy Hass, and Pam Hass.

The family will receive friends, 6-8 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home.
