Obituary for Herschel E. Quarles Jr.

Services for Herschel E. Quarles, Jr., 93, of Grand Saline, are scheduled for 1 p.m., Saturday, September 3, 2022, at Bartley Funeral Home with Pastor Monte Pentecost officiating.
Interment will be in Creagleville Cemetery.

Mr. Quarles passed away August 25, 2022, in Burleson. He was born March 26, 1929, in Mobile, Alabama, to Herschel Eugene and Lois Quarles, Sr. Herschel lived most of his life in Ft. Worth before moving to Grand Saline 26 years ago. On October 6, 1956, he married Anna Mae Albaugh in Falls Church, Virginia. He was on the “A” Team at Auburn University and a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. He retired from General Dynamics/Lockhead Martin after 36 years of service as an Avionics Engineer. Herschel served in the United States Army and was a member of Liberty Temple Church in Grand Saline. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 54 years, Anna Mae Quarles; two daughters, Elizabeth Quarles and Shawn Quarles; sister, Elaine Mastin; and brother-in-law, Jerry Mastin.

Survivors include two sons, Robert H. Quarles and wife Kim of Pflugerville and Richard A. Quarles and wife Denise of Crowley; daughter, Laurie Ely and husband Mark of Crowley; brother, William Grayson “Buzz” Quarles and wife Emily of Spring; sister, Ann Wilson and husband Forrest of Mobile, Alabama; nine grandchildren, Daniel Quarles, Justin Quarles, Jason Snead and wife Amanda, Jordan Snead and wife Melissa, Jessica Snead, Jada Snead, Samantha Ely, Charlotte, Quarles, and Samuel Quarles; nine great-grandchildren, Abi, Aubrey, Jordan Jr., Desslyn, Jax, Brook, Abigail, Carter, and Isabel; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Robert Quarles, Richard Quarles, Daniel Quarles, Justin Quarles, Jason Snead, Jordan Snead, Samuel Quarles, and Jordan Snead Jr.
