Obituary for Ruby "Texas Sunshine Ruby" Clower (Bateman)

Services for Ruby Bateman Clower “Texas Sunshine Ruby”, 82, of Grand Saline, are scheduled for 3 p.m., Monday, January 31, 2022, at Bartley Funeral Home, with Carl McCann, Jeremy Harrell, and Justin Maxfield officiating.

Interment will be in Haven of Memories, Canton.

Mrs. Clower passed away January 26, 2022, in Grand Saline. She was born October 24, 1939, in Myrtle Springs to William Austin & Leamor Jewel Tidwell Bateman. From the age of 8-16 years old, Ruby sang and had a contract with RCA Records as “Texas Sunshine Ruby”, singing on the “Big D Jamboree” in Dallas, Eddie Arnold Show, Jerry Lewis Telethon, Rockefeller Plaza in New York City, NY, and many other places through the years. She owned & operated Glenn’s Automotive in Grand Saline. Ruby was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Glenn Clower; son, Chuck Clower; sister, Wynell Mitchell; three brothers, Anthony Bateman, Donny Lee Bateman, and Herman Bateman; granddaughter, Emily Byrum; and son-in-law, Charles Byrum.

Survivors include her three daughters, Candy Jo Byrum of Grand Saline, Joanie Mayne and husband Jody of Grand Saline, and Jonna Fern Dail and husband James of Ft. Worth; daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Clower of Grand Saline; three sisters-in-law, Jo Gilchrist of Van, Sherry Boaz of Grand Saline, and Pat Bateman of Wills Point; seven grandchildren, Randy Hill and wife Vanessa, Andy Clower and wife Jessi, Derrick Byrum, Jared Mayne and wife Lucy, Abby Self and husband Josh, Lindsay Dail, and Wesley Mayne and wife Krystal; eighteen great-grandchildren, Nathaniel, Zachary, Benjamine, Henry, Ariel-Jean, Ella, Henry, Landon, Carson, Luke, Avery, Mason, Maddox, Preston, Austin, Collin, Cooper, and Miley; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Randy Hill, Andy Clower, Derrick Byrum, Jared Mayne, Josh Self, and Wesley Mayne.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Caring Hearts Hospice.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to services on Monday at the funeral home.
