Obituary for Louie Vaughn

It is with great sadness, the family of Louie Vaughn, 65, of Alba, announces his passing on December 21, 2021, at his residence in Alba. He was born August 18, 1956, in Liberty, Texas. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 32 years, Kari Vaughn; mother-in-law, Mary Claunch of Midwest City, Ok; brother-in-law, Allan Claunch and his wife Jayme of Edmond, OK. His love for fishing was his occupation for his entire life. Fresh out of high school, he ran a shrimp boat off the coast of Texas for many years. He then moved to Navajo Dam, NM, where he met Kari and they later married in Durango, CO. He bought a dory boat and became a very successful fly-fishing guide for 12 years, on the San Juan River. He loved fishing for small and large mouth bass and started tournament fishing. The love of fishing brought him to Lake Fork, where he started guiding and currently co-owned Reel Time Rods. He also enjoyed riding his Harley with Kari, participating in the Patriot Guard and various charities. Playing poker with the locals had become another passion of his over the last few years. Louie had a kind and compassionate spirit that will be missed by so many.

A memorial service, honoring Louie, is scheduled for 2 p.m., Monday, December 27, 2021, at First Baptist Church, Alba, with Dr. Kelly Burton officiating, under the direction of his church and family.
