Obituary for Morris Wendell Baker, Jr.
Services for Morris Wendell Baker, Jr., 69, of Alba, are scheduled for 11 a.m., Friday, October 15, 2021, at First Baptist Church, Alba, with Pastor Rick Rumfelt officiating, under the direction of Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home, Alba.
Interment will be in Golden Cemetery, Golden.
Mr. Baker passed away October 9, 2021, in Tyler. He was born September 16, 1952, in Dallas, to Morris Wendell and Billie Ruth Baker, Sr. On June 8, 1973, Wendell married Lana Kay Davis. He lived in the Alba-Golden area for the last 36 years and worked for the Golden Water Supply Corp., as the general manager since 1989. Wendell loved hunting, fishing, and would help anyone at any time. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife of 29 years, Lana Kay Davis Baker; brother, William Baker; sister, Cindy Rumfelt; and niece, Angel Bryant.
Survivors include his son, Morris Wendell Baker, III, of Golden; daughter, Sancy Macelita Beth Baker-Green and husband James of Golden; brother, Matthew Baker and wife Cindy of Wills Point; two sisters, Margie Corbitt and husband John, and Mary Baker and James Hollman all of Golden; five grandchildren, Dylon McGinnis, Destiny Baker; Morris Wendell Baker, IV, Jayden Green, and Landon Green; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Ernie Bryant, Pete Baker, Bucky Baker, Cliff Baker, Donald Rumfelt, Josh Rumfelt, and Jason Maestas.
The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m., Thursday at Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home, Alba.
