Obituary for Alvie Jefferson Melton
Graveside services for Alvie Jefferson Melton, 76, of Alba are scheduled for 10 a.m., Friday, August 27, 2021, at Salem Cemetery, under the direction of Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home, Alba.
Mr. Melton passed away August 24, 2021, in Tyler. He was born November 5, 1944, to Allie Edgar and Ina Bell Hukill Melton. On July 1, 1964, Alvie married Frances Gayle Thorn in Emory. He lived all his life in the Alba area and was a member of Pilgrim Rest #2 Baptist Church in Golden. He worked as a mechanic and was also employed at Texas Walls for 10 years. Alvie was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 40 years, Frances Gayle Melton; and four brothers.
Survivors include his son, Rodney Melton and wife Pam of Alba; daughter, Arlene Lawrence and husband Colten of Mineola; three brothers, Ronnie Melton and wife Carolyn of Corsicana, Thomas Melton of Wolfe City, and Robert Melton and wife Linda of Wolfe City; sister, Helen Joyce Scott of Arkansas; four grandchildren, Seth Lawrence, Travis Lawrence, Jennifer Melton and fiancé Justin Allen, and A.J. Melton; four great-grandchildren, Cali Anne Lawrence, Camri Joanne Lawrence, Wynston Blake Allen, and Cora Lea Allen; and numerous other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m., Thursday, at Wilson- Bartley Funeral Home, Alba.
