Services for James Douglas “J.D.” Poston, 84, of Alba, are scheduled for 10 a.m., Friday, June 11, 2021, at Pleasant Ridge Chapel, Alba, with Jim Poston and Gilley Poston officiating, under the direction of Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home, Alba.
Interment will be in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Alba.
Mr. Poston passed away June 7, 2021, in Tyler. He was born March 14, 1937, in Alba to Granville Gilbert and Adolphus Ermagene McKenzie Poston. J.D. lived all his life in Alba and was a member of Enon Baptist Church, Alba. He served in the United States Navy and worked as a drilling superintendent in the petroleum industry. He was involved in the developing of oil and gas regulations. J.D. loved rodeo, western movies, and reading Louis L’Amour books. He also enjoyed fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother, Gilley; and grandson, Mike Poston.
Survivors include his two sons, Jim Poston and wife Carol of Tyler and Gilley Poston and wife Gay of Alba; two brothers, Eddie Poston of Dallas and Andy Poston and wife Kay of Tyler; sister, Nancy Wilson of Emory; four grandchildren, Ashley Nelson and husband Brian, Lindsey Pond and husband Brian, Dakota Poston and wife Alicia, and Chelsey Sheehan and husband Riley; six great-grandchildren; mother of his children, Louise Means; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Dalton Wright, Aaron Graham, Jake Hass, Matt George, Kevin Wright, and Greg Wright.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Ken Redfearn, Kent McAree, Casey Davis, Kent Hayes, Tony Hayes, and Austin Brickey.
