Obituary for John Michael Spatola, Sr.

Mr. John Michael Spatola, Sr., 79, of Emory, passed away February 19, 2021, in Tyler. He was born July 25, 1941, in Chicago, Illinois, to Mike Joseph and Lucille Minitello Spatola. On August 13, 1965, he married Betty Sue McConnell in Phenix, Alabama. John was a member of the United States Army and served during the Vietnam Era. He was a retired mechanic and truck driver and had lived the last twenty years in Rains County. John enjoyed fishing and watching NASCAR and westerns on TV. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-five years, Betty Spatola of Emory; two sons, John Spatola, Jr. and wife Tonya of Kountze and Tony Spatola and wife April of Emory; two daughters, Michele Horne of Emory and Roxane Molandes and husband David of Lumberton; two sisters, Angela Clark and husband Mac and Lou Ann Cook and husband Chuck all of Biloxi, Mississippi; eight grandchildren, Justin McGee, Dakota Grass, Josie Spatola, Ashley McLemore, Chris Walters, Zachary Horne, Travis Horne, and Tony Spatola, Jr.; fifteen great-grandchildren, and numerous other relatives and friends.
