Obituary for Johnny Francis "Memaw" Hanson (Smiley)

Graveside services for Johnny Francis Smiley Hanson “Memaw”, 99, of Lone Oak, are scheduled for 2 p.m., Thursday, October 15, 2020, at Hall Cemetery, Lone Oak, with Russell Mims and Augie Gomez officiating under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home, Lone Oak.

Mrs. Hanson passed away October 12, 2020, at her residence in Lone Oak. She was born September 29, 1921, in Lone Oak to John Thomas and Claudia Lee Slemmons Smiley. Johnny spent her early years in Lone Oak and graduated from Lone Oak High School, Class of 1939. She lived in Commerce from 1973 – 1995, before moving back to Lone Oak. Johnny owned and operated Hanson’s Washateria, while working at Haggar Slacks in Greenville. She retired from Haggar Slacks in 1989, with 35 years of service and with perfect attendance for 25 of those years. She is preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Cory Lee Hanson; two sisters, Geraldene Stevens and Nina Bernice Smiley; the father of her children, L.W. Hanson; and former daughter-in-law, Kennette Hanson, mother of Cory Lee Hanson.

Survivors include two sons, Danny Hanson and wife June and Tommy Hanson all of Lone Oak; daughter-in-law, Michelle Hanson of Lone Oak; sister, Peggy “Shirley” Manning of Commerce; six grandchildren, Danae Sasser of Lone Oak, David Hanson and wife Felisa of Lone Oak, Tonya Lohman and husband Shane of Jefferson, Ashley Key and husband Brack of Dallas, Charli Holt of Quinlan and Maggie Frances Hanson-Land and husband Garrett of Lone Oak; fourteen great-grandchildren; twenty-five great-great-grandchildren; former daughter-in-law, Gail Stevenson; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Dustin Sasser, Daniel Hanson, Brack Key, R.T. Gentry, Jonathan McClure, and Shane Lohman.

Honorary pallbearers will be Randy Manning, Michael Lohman, Garrett Land, Levi Sasser, and David Hanson.

The family would like to say a special thank you to Caring Hearts Hospice, Nurse Rhonda, Aide Skylar, and Chaplain Josh.

The family will receive friends 6-8p.m., Wednesday at Bartley Funeral Home, Lone Oak.
