I first met Sergeant James K. "Shorty" Slemmons at the DPD in 1967 when I was a Rookie DPD Police Officer. He was one of my First Sergeants at the Dallas Police Department. He was nicknamed "Shorty" to all of us in the DPD family. He was a faithful friend,a Good Worthy Brother, and a True Brother in Blue. My thoughts and prayers go out to Kaye and J.K.'s family during this time of grief and sorrow. May Godspeed and RIP on this your final signal 66. John R. Allen,Retired DPD & Retired Alvarado PD

In this time of grieving, it is important to remember that time will ease your burden and you will realize that the fond memories will be everlasting. Time too will soften our hearts to be a better family as our ancestors would wished.
