Obituary for Robert Earl Dickey

Robert Earl Dickey, 82, of Edgewood, left this world on January 24, 2020 but he lives on in the hearts of the many people he touched. Robert was known for his gentle kind heart, his dry (and sometimes sarcastic) wit, his deep faith and his unconditional love for his family. He was born May 11, 1937, in Malone, to Cord and Edith Farmer Dickey. Robert was raised in Hillsboro and was a member of the Hillsboro High School class of 1955. Robert lived in Mesquite before moving to Edgewood 35 years ago. On February 10, 1978, he married Jeanette Yarbrough in Rockwall. Robert was an electrician by trade and had a passion for gardening. Everyone knew how he loved to work in his garden and how proud he was of his blueberries. He was the owner and operator of Robert’s Electric Service for over 30 years. As his daughters would attest to, he could build or fix anything. He was a wonderful carpenter and built so many things, including storage buildings, games, playhouses, and even a canoe, but he was most proud of the blended family that he and Jeanette created. Robert loved all four of his girls and Jeanette with a love that could never be questioned. Robert was a member of the International Outreach Church in Wills Point. In looking back, the traits we admired most in Robert are the very traits we need more of in this world. His gentle demeanor, kind heart, and lasting patience would serve all of us well. He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Billy Dickey and Cord Dickey, Jr.; and one sister, Mary Grubbs.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Jeanette Yarbrough Dickey of Edgewood; four daughters, Julie Dickey Teague and husband Bruce of Mesquite, Andrea Dickey Wilson of Forney, Teresa McBride Pyle of Grand Saline, and Bobbie McBride Boehler and husband Kyle of Royse City; seven grandchildren, Nicholas Devenport, Natalie Teague, Nathan Teague, Savannah Wilson, Robert Hunter Wilson, Courtney McFarland and Taylor Pyle; seven great-grandchildren, Avery, Devin, Kaelynn, Brandon, Madison, Jace, and Cade; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Robert Dickey will be greatly missed …. because he was deeply loved. In a life remembered, what more could you want?
