Obituary for Cheryl Brumfield (Copeland)

Memorial services for Cheryl Brumfield, 75, Grand Saline, are scheduled for 11 a.m., Saturday, November 9, 2019, at Main Street Baptist Church with Bro. Bruce Smilie and Evangelist David Crain officiating under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home.
Mrs. Brumfield passed away November 2, 2019. She was born July 27, 1944 in Angleton to Luther & Nell Wells Copeland. Cheryl played percussion and was a majorette in band at Angleton High School, where she graduated Class of 1962. She received her bachelor’s degree from Lamar University in 1966. She was a member of Alpha Delta Phi sorority. She married James Brumfield June 4, 1966. Cheryl taught school in College Station, Spring Branch, Wills Point and Grand Saline. She had lived in Grand Saline since 1988, where she was a member of Main Street Baptist Church and their Jubilee Sunday School Class. She also sang in the choir, served in the children’s ministry and ran the Jubilee Class Prayer Chain. Mrs. Brumfield had also been a member of the Athena Club and was very active with Bill Glass “Behind the Walls” Prison Ministry. She was preceded in death by her parents, Luther & Nell Copeland and her in-laws, Tommy & Marjorie Brumfield.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years, James Brumfield of Grand Saline; son, Kevin Brumfield and wife Jennifer of Katy; daughter, Allison Thompson and husband Colely of Cedar Park; sister, Kathy Lancaster of Angleton; sister-in-law, Sue Jones and husband Bobby of Texarkana; four grandchildren, Brooke Brumfield, Britt Brumfield, Mary Nell Thompson and Carly Jean Thompson; nieces and nephews, Jennifer Vincent and husband Rodney of Cedar Park, Jeff Jones and wife Jessie of Lewisburg, MS, Kaysie Stewart and husband Clayton of Angleton and Kody Lancaster and wife Samantha of Angleton; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Memorials may be made to the Bill Glass “Behind the Walls” Prison Ministry or Main Street Baptist Church Local Missions Fund.
The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.
