Obituary for Maxine Leatherwood (Combs)
Services for Maxine Leatherwood, 84, of Grand Saline, are scheduled for 10 a.m., Wednesday, August 21, 2019, at Bartley Funeral Home with Pastor Jonathan Smith officiating.
Interment will be in Creagleville Cemetery.
Ms. Leatherwood passed away August 17, 2019 in Quitman. She was born August 31, 1934, in Grand Saline, to John & Ruby Hudson Combs. She spent many years in the Dallas area before moving to East Texas about 15 years ago. She was a member of Judson Community Church in Longview and a proud member of the Choctaw Indian Nation. She was an accomplished professional seamstress, loved raising chickens, horses and her dogs. Maxine was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; sister; and granddaughter, Tracie Faye Land.
Survivors include her two sons, Mike Humphreys and wife Terrie of Grand Saline and Tim Humphreys and wife Brandy of Diana; two daughters, Karen Harris and husband Rick of Mineola and Charlotte Paasch of Mineola; sister, Ruthie Joe Henderson of Tyler; eleven grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home.
