Obituary for Velma Ernestine Carpenter (Sharp)

Services for Velma Ernestine Carpenter, 96, of Grand Saline, are scheduled for 11 a.m., Friday, February 9, 2018 at Bartley Funeral Home with Danny Carpenter officiating.
Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery.
Mrs. Carpenter passed away February 5, 2018, in Grand Saline. She was born April 21, 1921, in Kaufman County to Alanzo & Viola Zachary Sharp. She had spent the last 30 years in Grand Saline where she was a member of Cornerstone Pentecostal Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ernest Carpenter; daughter and son-in-law, Donna & Ray Lester; three brothers, L.V. Sharp, Leo Sharp and Melvin Sharp; and sister, Jo Dempsey.
Survivors include her sons, David Carpenter and wife Doris of Caddo, OK and Danny Carpenter and wife Sandi of The Woodlands; daughter, Darlene Herring and husband Paul of Georgetown; nine grandchildren, Reneé Solis and husband Ernie, Jory Lester and wife Tami, Greg Carpenter and wife Vickie, Dr. Cary Carpenter and wife Lorrie, Brian Carpenter and wife Reneé, Tanya Wyatt, Shontel Mays and husband Bryan, Allison Reinke and husband Travis and Ashley Jensen and husband Matthew; fourteen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Jory Lester, Ernie Solis, Greg Carpenter, Bryan Mays, Dr. Cary Carpenter, Travis Reinke, Brian Carpenter and Matthew Jensen.
The family will receive friends 10 a.m., Friday at the funeral home.
