Obituary for Major Nicholas Di Salvo

Services for Major Nicholas Di Salvo, 94, of Grand Saline, are scheduled for 2 p.m., Wednesday, February 7, 2018, at Bartley Funeral Home with Bro. Billy Smith officiating.
Interment will be in Corinth Cemetery.
Mr. Di Salvo passed away February 4, 2018, in Grand Saline. He was born February 28, 1923 in Batavia, NY, to Vincenza & Filomino Di Salvo and graduated from Batavia High School. He served in the 8th Army Airforce in Europe during WWII as a bombardier. Di Salvo retired as a Major from the Airforce reserves. He graduated from University of Syracuse in New York with a BA in Business Administration and later moved to Denver, CO where he and his brother owned and operated two hardware stores. Mr. Di Salvo later became a CLU and was a manager of SMA Insurance office in Albuquerque, NM. He moved to Grand Saline in 1970 where he worked in insurance and real estate. He enjoyed learning all his life, was very competitive and was a joy to be with. He is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Angeline Bartholomew and Lucy Corona; and four brothers, Sam, Joseph, Johnny and Nicola Di Salvo.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Ona Mae Davis Di Salvo of Grand Saline; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Grier, Clay Davis, Carl Stanford, Kevin Kimmel, James Davis and Dee Davis.
The family will receive friends 1 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home.
