Obituary for Henry D. Kingston

Services for Mr. Henry D. Kingston, 97, of Grand Saline, are scheduled for 11 a.m., Friday, January 27, 2017, at Sand Springs Baptist Church with Bro. Jim Parker and Bro. Nick Kerry officiating under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home, Grand Saline.
Interment will be in Silver Lake Cemetery.
Mr. Kingston passed away January 24, 2017, at a Quitman hospital. He was born March 31, 1919, in Bryans Mill to James A & Lenora Tidwell Kingston. He spent his early years in Naples, and most of life in Dallas before moving to Grand Saline in 1997. He served in the Navy during WWII. He retired from the City of Dallas after over 28 years of service as a supervisor for Parks & Recreation. He had been a member of Sand Springs Baptist Church for 20 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Johnie Kingston; daughter, Lois Kingston Works; son, Greg Kingston; four sisters and four brothers.
Survivors include his son, Don Kingston and wife Diana of Dallas; brother, Thomas Kingston of Naples; son-in-law, Victor Works of Decatur, GA; daughter-in-law, Linda Kingston of Rockwall; eight grandchildren, Wendy Works Jones and husband David, Lisa Works, Jeremy Kingston, Janet Works Miller and husband Michael, Jason Kingston and wife Amy, Karen Kingston, Nikki Kingston Hayes and husband David and David Works; seven great-grandchildren, James Miller, Ellen Miller, Samantha Miller, Fiona Kingston, Julia Kingston, Molly Kingston and Brodie Kingston; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Darrell Galyean, Shane Estoll, Robbie Pitre, Randy Ward, Rafael Amaya and Jeremy Pierce.
Memorials can be made to Silver Lake Cemetery Association c/o David Harvill, 359 FM 2422, Mineola, TX 75773.
The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.
