Obituary for Marvin Lenon Peel

Services for Marvin Peel, 93, Grand Saline, are scheduled for 2 p.m., Friday, March 29, 2019, at Main Street Baptist Church with Bro. Bruce Smilie officiating.
Interment will follow in Haven of Memories, Canton, under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home.
Mr. Marvin Lenon Peel passed away March 24, 2019, in Grand Saline. He was born October 30, 1925, to Leonard T. & Ruby Morris Peel in Grand Saline. He served in the US Marines during WWII, 1st Division/1st Wave, in Okinawa, Hiroshima and Nagasaki. He lived many years in Ft. Worth then moved back to Grand Saline in 1986 after his retirement from Bell Helicopter on December 30 as a supervisor. Mr. Peel also worked for Swift Meat Packing and Convair (working on the B-36 "Peacemaker"). He was a member of Main Street Baptist Church, where he served over 50 years as a deacon, and taught Sunday School for many of those years. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard T. "Humpy" Peel and Ruby Morris Peel; wife of 65 years, Lovie Joy McNorton Peel; daughter, Patricia Ann Peel; granddaughter, Margaret Ann Peel; daughter-in-law, Margaret Rogers Peel; three brothers, Richard Peel, Jack Peel and Morris Peel; and sister, Jo Calder.
Survivors include his wife Celia Peel of Grand Saline; son, Timothy Peel and fiancé Pamela Jean Butler of Ft. Worth; grandchild, Jason Hedberg of Ft. Worth; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Timothy Peel, Jason Hedberg, Wayne Sloan, Terry Tolar, Mike Hedberg and Derrell Ferguson.
The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.
