James Edwin (Butch) Bennett

EMORY – Funeral services for James Edwin (Butch) Bennett, 79, of Emory, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, February 2, 2019, in the Chapel, Alba, with Jeff Jackson from Bull Creek Cowboy Church, Lone Oak, officiating.
Burial will be in Emory City Cemetery, Emory, under direction of Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home, Alba.
Mr. Bennett passed away Wednesday, January 30, 2019, at his home in Emory.
He was born July 14, 1939, in Kaufman, to the late Joe Davis and Sibyl Eugena Bailey Bennett. He fell in love with Billie Johnson and married her on May 7, 1960, in Dallas. James grew up in Kaufman and eventually moved to Oak Cliff in Dallas next door to Billie’s family. He worked for W.R. Grace for a total of 33 years. Butch and Billie have lived in Emory since 1999. He loved East Texas, riding his Gold Wing motorcycle, and working on lawn mowers, tractors, and anything else that needed to be fixed.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Billie Bennett of Emory; son, Jimmy Bennett and wife Rhonda of Emory; daughter, Gena Mann and Tom Breit of Grand Prairie; brother, Michael Bennett and wife Rita of Emory; sisters, Linda Herd and husband Gary of Cedar Hill and JoAnn Bennett of Emory; grandchildren, James B., Christine B., Douglas G., and Delanie M.; three great-grandchildren, A’Niyah, Little Doug, and Claire; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Glenn Bennett; sister, Dorothy Short; and brother, Rick (Crash) Bennett.
Pallbearers will be members from Bull Creek Cowboy Church.
Visitation will be 1 p.m. Saturday, February 2, 2019, at the funeral home.
