Services for John Lacey Harger, 78, of Fruitvale, are scheduled for 2 p.m., Thursday, April 5, 2018, at Riverside Mission Church with Bro. Donnie Herring and Sis. Delana Wheeler officiating under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home, Grand Saline.
Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery.
Mr. Harger passed away April 3, 2018, in Grand Saline. He was born January 4, 1940, in Kalamazoo, MI, to James Albert and Mae Celeste Victoria Atkins Harger. John spent his early years in Oklahoma and then moved to the Fruitvale and Grand Saline area over 53 years ago. He worked for the City of Mineola and was a member of Riverside Mission Church. Mr. Harger was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Lou Ella Harger; three brothers, Frank Harger, Bill Harger and Leroy Harger; four sisters, Violet Jackson, Dorothy Wheeler, Helen Weber and Goldie Currey.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Jo Harger of Fruitvale; two sons, John Edward Harger of Fruitvale and Wayne Harger of Fruitvale; four daughters, Joyce Brand of Fruitvale, Tracy Gomez of Fruitvale, Sue Nell Harger of Fruitvale and Delois Glidewell of Grand Saline; brother, Jim Harger of Indiana; sister, Ada Kidwell of Virginia; 21 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Paul Harger, Gabral Bahena, Deven Bahena, Chris Lindley, Raymond Gomez, Popcorn Alexander, Joe Daniel and Roy Brand.
The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.
