Obituary for Alvin Dean Stroman

YANTIS – Funeral services for Alvin Dean Stroman, 68, of Yantis, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 17, 2018, at First Baptist Church, Alba, with Dr. Kelly Burton officiating.
Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, under the direction of Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home, Alba.
Mr. Stroman passed away Thursday, January 11, 2018, at his residence.
He was born Wednesday, December 21, 1949, in Fort Sill, Oklahoma, to the late Alton and Sarah Brannon Stroman. He married Judy Kay Bagby on January 11, 1973, in Lampasas. He served in the Navy during the Vietnam War. In 1979, he and his family moved to Ras Tanura, Saudi Arabia, where he worked for the Arabian American Oil Co. (Aramco) for 15 years. He coached Little League baseball, including leading a team to the 1985 Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. Dean lived on Lake Fork since 1994 and was a fishing and hunting guide. He was an avid outdoorsmen and loved teaching others to hunt and fish. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Alba and participated in mission trips to Honduras.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Judy Stroman of Yantis; son, Roger and wife Dianne Stroman of Emory; daughters, Velda Stiner of Indianapolis, Indiana, Vicki and husband Greg Seaton of Reno, Nevada, and Kristie and husband John Youngblood of Bellaire; sister, Sadie St. John of Pell City, Alabama; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and two sisters.
