Alvin “Hap” Jones

EMORY– Services for Alvin “Hap” Jones, 79, of Emory, are scheduled for 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 24, 2014, at Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home chapel, Alba, with Bro. David Hendricks and Bro. Jeff Thompson officiating.
Burial will be in Salem Cemetery, Alba, under direction of Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home, Alba.
Mr. Jones passed away Saturday, June 21, 2014, in a Tyler hospice facility.
He was born February 3, 1935, in Emory, to the late W. C. and Cynthia Adaline Brown Jones. He served in the Army during the Korean War. He married Geraldine Hill on April 11, 1957, in Emory. They had been married 47 years when she passed away. He was a truck driver for Western Foundry for 15 years. He married Pearl Kirkpatrick on August 22, 2005, and had lived in Rains County most of his life. He was a lifetime member of the American Quarterhorse Association and the VFW in West Tawakoni. He enjoyed attending Blue Grass Festivals, was a member of the Rains Riding Club, and enjoyed trail rides. He attended Pilgrim Rest No.1 Baptist Church of Emory.
Survivors include his wife, Pearl Jones of Emory; daughters, Donna Jones of Alba, and Carol Fizer and husband George of Odessa, Missouri; brother, Tobbie Lee Jones and wife Virginia of Warner Robins, Georgia; and sister-in-law Reta Jones of Sunray; two grandchildren, Kendra Lehr and Shelbee Sterthman.
He was preceded in death by his wife Geraldine Jones; brothers, W.C. Jones, Jr. and Bobby Ray Jones; and sister, Jessie Kirkpatrick; and stepson, James Haney, Jr.
Pallbearers are Paul Ray Adams, Larry Clark, Gerald Kirkpatrick, and Robert Lovvorn, Terry Clark, and Roy Lee Spence.
Honorary pallbearer will be Mason Jacobs.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University Blvd., Tyler, 75701.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 6–8 p.m.
