Services for Mozelle Whiteside Ellis, 83, of Grand Saline, are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 16, 2014 at Bartley Funeral Home with Bro. Eddie Paul Stanley officiating.
Interment will follow in Haven of Memories, Canton.
Mrs. Ellis passed away June 13, 2014 in Grand Saline. She was born May 7, 1931 in Henderson County to Emmitt and Bertha Parks Whiteside. After spending her early years in Chester, she moved to Wills Point for 5 years then to Grand Saline, where she had lived since 1960. Mrs. Ellis was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Grand Saline. She taught school for over 30 years in Kilgore and Grand Saline and was also a History Day State Judge. She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant brother, Dwayne Whiteside; sister, Grace Williams; brother, Harry Whiteside; son-in-law, Mike Heddins; and uncle and aunt, Bascom and Mary Lou Barnes.
Survivors include her husband of 61 years Gene Ellis of Grand Saline; two sons, Darrell Ellis and wife Patricia of Marshall and Dwayne Ellis and wife Tammy of Alba; three daughters, Karen Heddins of Mesquite, Leta Hollis and husband Danny of Grand Saline, and Kimberly Czupryna and husband Bob of Forney; sister, Nell Benold and husband Dr Doug Benold of Georgetown; seventeen grandchildren, Erica Anderson, Brandon Stacey, Sarah Williams, Megan Stacey, Starla Bryant, LaDarla Sanders, Canyon Ellis, Becky Hopkins, Jeremy Grace, Matthew Grace, Josh Hollis, Jordan Hollis, Jared Hollis, Aellise Czupryna, Stasia Czupryna, Elizabeth Ellis, and David Ellis; eight great-grandchildren, Trey Anderson, Lily Anderson, Crimson Bryant, Cavern Bryant, Mason Miller, Alison Miller, Bo Grace, and Dylan Grace; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Stacey, Matthew Grace, Canyon Ellis, Jarrod Bryant, Jeremy Grace, and David Nowlin.
The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorials can be made to the Old School Museum in Grand Saline.
